Understanding Data Credits
Data credits are how DealMachine meters access to property and people data: one simple unit across search, export, the API, and every app.
One credit = one unique record
You spend one data credit the first time you access a unique property or a unique person. Properties and people are counted separately, so pulling a property and its owner is one property credit plus one people credit. The same record is never charged twice in the same billing cycle.
What uses credits
- Searching for properties or people
- Property & person lookups by ID
- Enriching records with phones, emails & owner data
- Exporting contacts, phones or emails
- Revealing contacts on a property
- Programmatic access via the API & CLI
- Data the Copilot pulls on your behalf
What's always free
- Re-accessing a record you already unlocked this cycle
- Viewing your account, filters & field metadata
- Count endpoints and cost estimates
Deduplicated within your billing month
Access the same property or person more than once in a single billing period and it only ever counts once. Re-opening records, re-running a list, or exporting the same leads again won't double-charge you.
Your monthly allowance
Your allowance resets at the start of each billing cycle. Go over it and we keep you moving. Extra usage is billed as overages at your plan's per-credit rate, never a hard stop.
Frequently asked
Does a person with three phone numbers cost three credits?
No. A unique person costs one data credit no matter how many phone numbers or emails come back with them.
What happens if I go over my monthly allowance?
We don't cut you off. Usage beyond your allowance is billed as overages at your plan's per-credit rate, so your work never stops mid-task.
Do credits roll over?
No. Your allowance refreshes at the start of each billing cycle. Deduplication is also scoped to the cycle.
How do I see what a search will cost before I run it?
Search endpoints accept a cost estimate that previews the credit cost without returning data or spending credits. Count endpoints are always free.
